Palace of Versailles Garden, Versailles, France 2009
It was in year 1661 that Louis XIV called upon André Le Nôtre to design the layout of the gardens of Versailles. In the mind of the king, the garden had an equal importance to the Château itself. The full completion of the garden took 40 years.
